Day 1 Arrive Auckland

Your guided holiday adventure begins in New Zealand’s largest city, Auckland. Home to 1/4 of New Zealand’s population and bordered by two stunning harbours, Auckland is a thriving, diverse city surrounded by natural wonders.

Explore Auckland with your guide, visiting top attractions such as the Sky Tower, Mt Eden’s volcanic crater, Waiheke Island, Kelly Tarlton’s Underwater World, or Piha Beach.

Stay 1 night in Auckland.

Day 2 Waitomo Glowworm Caves

Travel time Auckland to Waitomo Caves – 2.5 hours

Venture off the beaten track as your guide takes you on a scenic drive to the Waitomo Caves. The land is wilder around here, with limestone outcroppings emerging from farmland and densely forested hills rising all around, but the wildest landscape of all lies underground.

Witness the marvels of these vast caverns as you explore two fantastic caves – the Ruakuri Cave, home to a dizzying array of cave formations, and the Waitomo Glowworm Caves, where you will be dazzled by a galaxy of glowworms overhead.

Travel time Waitomo Caves to Taupo – 2 hours 

Enjoy the scenic drive to Taupo, a small town set beside New Zealand’s largest lake. With the volcanic peaks of Tongariro National Park looming in the distance, and the lake itself formed from an ancient volcanic crater, you will get a close-up look at the immense forces that shaped New Zealand.

 Day 3 Lake Taupo + Huka Falls

Visit the majestic Huka Falls with your guide in the morning.

Then venture to the Huka Prawn Park. With acres of land dedicated to the production of New Zealand fresh water prawns, and pure family fun, Huka Prawn Park offers a day of fun and excitement for all ages. Hand feed the baby prawns, challenge each other and play on the water features and adventure playgrounds, feed the wild, but friendly Rainbow Trout, soak your feet in the relaxing Geothermal Foot Bath and fish for the feisty prawn!

Discuss with your guide what you would like to do for the afternoon, recommendations include visiting Wai-O-Tapu Thermal Wonderland or taking a boat cruise to view the magnificent Maori Rock Cavings on Lake Taupo.

 Day 4 Rotorua + Skyline Gondola Lunch

Travel time Taupo to Rotorua – 1 hour 

Enjoy the scenic drive to Rotorua, New Zealand’s geothermal wonderland.

Enjoy a sumptuous lunch at Rotorua’s most spectacular location – the top of the Skyline Gondola! After lunch enjoy the thrill of the Luge, select from one of the three exciting Luge trails. Take off downhill on your luge through twists and turns to a backdrop of dramatic scenery and through Redwood forests. Option to enjoy beautiful nature walks, visit the Jelly Belly shop or the Volcanic Hills winery and tasting room.

Discuss with your guide what you would like to do for the afternoon, recommendations include visiting Rainbow Springs Nature Park, where you can view New Zealand wildlife and the famous ‘Kiwi’ or for a unique New Zealand farm experience visit Agrodome Rotorua.

 Day 5 Geothermal Wonders + Maori Culture

Stroll through Hells Gate Geothermal Reserve in the morning, where you will have the opportunity to experience the rich Maori culture and soak in a relaxing sulphur spa.

In the evening, experience a unique insight into Māori culture. Be enthralled by Māori cultural performances as you get the opportunity to participlate in the graceful poi dance or ferocious haka. Taste an exquisite Māori feast prepared in the traditional Hangi style. You will be treated to New Zealand mussels, traditional rewana bread and dips, meats, chicken, lamb, vegetables and salads. Try a local drink made from kawakawa extract and manuka honey plus make sure you leave room for dessert.  After dinner you will be invited to board the motorised waka for a journey to Te Puia’s geothermal valley. You’ll disembark right in front of the Pohutu Geyser, illuminated in its full glory beneath a starry sky. Marvel at the sight of this glorious natural wonder, while your tour guide entertains you with traditional Māori mythology and stories.

Day 6 Hobbiton + Tauranga

Travel time Rotorua to Matamata – 1 hour 

Experience the magic of Middle-Earth as you tour the Hobbiton Movie Set, where the charming village from The Lord of the Rings has been brought to life.

Travel time Matamata to Tauranga – 1 hour

Continue your day trip to Tauranga surrounded by hectares of orchards and gardens producing everything from kiwifruit and citrus fruit to avocados. Your tour guide will take you to where you can purchase fresh local produce then continue on to Mount Maunganui, a short distance from Tauranga, which has spectacular beaches a magnet for surfers all year round and voted New Zealand’s best by TripAdvisor.

Day 7 Scenic Helicopter Flight over Tauranga

Today experience a different view of Mount Maunganui and Tauranga City on a magical scenic helicopter flight! This flight will take you along the white sandy coastline to the Mount Main Beach. Fly around “The Mount” and over Matakana Island on your way to Tauranga city. Sharks and Stingrays are often seen in the shallows during the summer months. This is a great way to see the busy Port of Tauranga, along with the beautiful inner harbour.

Discuss with your guide what you would like to do for the afternoon, recommendations include a guided walk up Mount Maunganui or visiting New Zealand’s only active marine volcano, White Island.

Day 8 Coromandel Peninsula + Hot Water Beach

Travel time Tauranga to Coromandel – 2.5 hours

Embark on a scenic tour of the Coromandel Peninsula, taking in views of the lush rainforest and idyllic beaches. If the tide is right, visit Hot Water Beach, where you can dig your own hot pools, on your way to Whitianga.

Day 9 Cathedral Cove Boat Tour

Discover the rugged coastline today on a boat tour that takes through the marine reserve and past immense sea caves and sandy bays. Stop at the famous Cathedral Cove to soak in the views!

Day 10 Auckland

Travel time Coromandel Peninsula to Auckland – 3 hours

Day 11 Depart Auckland
